Telling A Story

When creating a commercial there are a lot of things to choose between, so many aspects to consider: telling a story, creating awareness, creating a desire, showing the image of the brand, using stars or common people, and there are more and all of what you do should come down to an awesome commercial.

What I personally look for within a commercial is a story, something that you can follow. An end goal of the story that will be dissolved at the end, and that the character of the commercial can work with throughout the commercial.

In this particular commercial created for Visa MasterCard, the audience really gets to see a story. We get to follow a man that has nothing but his Visa MasterCard, why end where he is and where he is going does not get explained until the very end, which really creates a desire to know, a curiosity one could call it. However, you get really involved in the character and where he is going.

When you manage to get that curiosity you have created a great storyline and probably a really good commercial. It is also important that the story makes sense at the end, and this one really ads up well with the realization of him being left naked in the middle of somewhere at his Bachelor party and that he did all this to get back to his weeding in time.

They really managed to appeal to the natural human curiosity, and at the same time show what their card is capable of.

They do have another one which is more directed towards sport fans, and that really shows their creativity in making commercials that fits different target audiences.
The soccer one is also really funny, becuase of all the different nature aspects they go through. this one was even more creative than the first one, good job Visa.

Nike = Awesome

I am just in love with the people who creates Nike ads, they are so accurate in what they are trying to express. What i love most about them is that they create commercials that appeals to a big audience, and I feel like they can do that by using both athletes to create a desire to be like them, and to mix that with normal people to ensure that people realize that they can do it to. Their classic slogan "Just do it" is also a part that makes it more appealing. I would say that it is the best slogan in the sport industry.
If i ever applied for an internship I would defiantly try to get one at Nike's commercial department, I would say that working there would be a dream job for me. It feels like I would be able to reach out to so many with the message that they can succeed. However, my dreams are of my concern.
More of the creative ability of the creating team of these; I have to say that they have an impressive ability to pick the right music for the emotion they are trying to convey in the video. In these two we can see how different music has to be to create the right emotion for the video.
I also like how these two shows the different ways Nike creates commercials, because both of these are very different indeed. One showing that it is hard work, and failure involved, but that we always need to get back up ones we fall down. As my old coach used to say, everybody falls down no matter what they do or how good they, but the people who really are successful are those who get back up the fastest. This is truly illustrated in the first video with the MMA fighter. And the part of the song that is played there is just a perfect match.
In the other video we get to see the playful part of athletics, and I really love the fact that they used "normal" people in that one instead of celebrities. It showed to fun that we never can forget while we are doing different kinds of sports. I really like that because when it stops being fun there is no reason to keep doing it. We can never forget our passion and reason for our specific sports, and why we love them so much.

Just A Different Way Of Thinking

You are sitting at your desk at the advertising agency, and you are suppose to illustrate something that will make the audience buy lottery tickets. What do you do?
This is what you do, it is so good. The target audience is an older generation, and that whole generation knows exactly who KISS is, and what they stand for. The people who created found something that everybody in the world would like to have, the band KISS in their car. They also bring in a lot humor by using an actor that is very relateable for the audience. The fact that he is kind of goofy helps as well, and he is kind off funny just in being himself.
I also liked the suprise you get at the end when you see that it is for a lottery ticket, a very creative way to make the audience willing to buy the lottery ticket.

Classic Nike Soccer

A Nike commercial that not really illustrates a specific product, however they show that with Nike anything is possible. It is not about what you are doing is about loving what you do, and when you love something that much you just make it up all the time. All you want to do is play the game, does not matter if it is soccer, basket ball or whatever. As long as you play it. i am certain that I speak for all athletes when I say I have defiantly done something similar to what Henry is doing in this commercial.

The creators bring humor in and they brin in memories from people's childhood and accuring things for those who still are kids. I do not know how many times my neigbours screamed at me and my friends when we played different games on the yard, or when our balls hit their cars or when we destroyed their flowers with missed hit shoots.

Therefore I think they really reach out to their targeted audience which are young soccer players!

For Those Who Likes To Laugh

Just saw this commercial and I just cracked up laughing, it so funny. It takes a quite common story about young teenagers getting caught "messing around", and that is always an awkward story. However they get that awkward moment to become real funny by using the condom in a real creative way.

I really like how they take a controversial subject, and show it with humor. I do not think it is seen as an controversial subject in South America where it was created, and it would not be seen as that in Europe as well, but here in America I found it hard to believe that they would illustrate it in the same way here.

The creative way they made this commercial is really admirable, and I consider that  an excellent example of how one should approach a product when trying to use humor in an ad. Seeing new ways in how create humor in ads is something that really is essential for creating awesome ads and commercials.

Let's shine

A commercial from Pantene, it aired in Thailand I believe. It truly goes on Pathos on us humans., it also sends a very good message. The lines Why am I different from others? and the answer Why do you have to be like others? I mean that just touches the soul base of how society should be. We should accept everyone for who they are and treat them as we would like to be treated our selves. It is a little bit funny as well, how you as viewer has no clue that it is a Pantene commercial until the last moment. I believe their intent was not to gain attention to their specific product, but to the commercial it self. And since the commercial got so much attention for how it was made, and the story behind it, Pantene got a lot of attention for creating it. Which then gave the company a lot of publicity, and that probably lead to a higher profit.

However, profit or not they should just be proud of this master piece!

I Remember

This commercial touched my heart, it plays on the heart string of people. A great use of Pathos, to create an interest for the viewer. I can say that the message it sends is very powerful and very true. Teachers just like the one in this commercial is exactly what every student needs, to be there for the students when they have a rough time, and when they really need someone to help them is the mind set a really good teacher should have.

This commercial reminds me a lot of my mother who teaches kids that have difficulties at home and can really focus in school because of problems in other aspects of life. And her old students often comes by our house for dinner and such, especially one who really was out on thin ice, and with my moms help she turned things around. Today she runs her own gym and she is still in touch with my mom.

I believe that this commercial not only sends a fantastic message but also gives people who are studying to become teachers something to think about, almost a path to follow when it comes to their interest in their students success.

I also really liked the way the shoot it, the close ups and angles they used really created tension to the image and also brought the eyes to what the director wanted us to focus on. In a certain scenario the phone and in another the tears in his sister's eye.

More commercials should be shoot like this!

Emotional Commercial

I just found a very sad commercial made in England, however it is a really good commercial due the fact that it really sends a powerful message.

The fact that the European commercials can send more of a message is because they are generally longer and do not have the visual restrictions as the ones made in America.
What I really liked about this one is the effects they use, it is not to unreal, they really managed to keep the stories true feeling by nor having to many special effects. It is also very up to date, texting and driving is becoming more ans more common since phones nowadays are with people all the time and what ever they are doing.

The only part I had an issue with was when they showed the baby in the car it just became to real, and since I know they shoot this commercial to gain attention to this important issue I felt that they crossed an ethical line by using that.

One thing I hope to never do is to cross my own ethical lines while creating ads and commercial. However, I am sure I will cross someone else's due to the fact that every person in the world has different beliefs and values.
